Kaja Laustsen is a multimedia artist, who takes traditional materials and merges them into untraditional applications. Her first arts experience occurred when she was three years old, she took her dad's paint brush while he was out of the room, and "improved" the oil painting on his easel with bright red stripes across a pale summer sky. From then on she never stopped creating, she is passionate about exploring new materials, mixing textures and colors in surprising ways and constantly pushing the creative process forward. Kaja has a degree in design from The Academy of Free and Mercantile Art in Copenhagen, a degree in business also from Copenhagen and a degree in Anthropology with a minor in art studio from UCSB. Most of her inspiration derives from nature but may also reflect a specific mood or event.
